Mechanical Design Engineering Internship, High Voltage Distribution/Battery Engineering (m/w/d)

What to Expect

Duration: min. 6 months Time type: Full TimeStart date: Oct 1st 2026Tesla is seeking highly motivated engineering students who thrive in a fast-paced environment and want to apply mechanical concepts to real world projects. Our team drives collaboration with many engineering groups - team players only. Tesla moves quickly, so being self-motivated and disciplined is critical. You must be passionate, but direction changes quickly, so you must also be resilient. As an intern you will work directly with full-time engineers to design, prototype, test and launch new parts and processes to improve our batteries. Our projects include advanced cooling systems, cell interfaces and high voltage distribution. Every day we push the boundaries of what is possible for energy storage in our vehicles, demanding extreme attention to details and the highest standard of performance, quality and manufacturability.

What You’ll Do

• Design new battery components that improve product metrics (performance, cost, mass)
• Own basic testing and analysis; support advanced testing and analysis
• Develop various test jigs and fixtures to validate battery components
